Golden Rotary has a long-standing relationship with
the Rotary Club of Pisco, Peru. In the past, we've helped them
acquire new fire-fighting equipment and have helped support a school
for disadvantaged children. When Pisco suffered an earthquake
in August of 2007, we sent relief funds to help the Pisco club in
their relief efforts.
The Pisco club reports that they are focusing on
children living in the areas surrounding Pisco, since some help was
available in the city, while none reached the surrounding areas.
The club provided blankets and school goods to 250 students from "Jose Gabriel
Aguilar" School.
The schools do not have water because they receive
only a few hours every 21 days through the irrigation channel so they need some
"holes" to collect a 21 day supply of water.
The water pictured above is green because of algae growth.
